As a default, the check box is selected and real-time protection is in effect.

Clear the check box to turn off real-time protection. Select the check box to turn it back on.

Note: Virus protection is not in effect with real-time protection is disabled.

You can click Change and then select one or more of the below actions:  

• Rename. Rename the file to end in INFECTED.

• Quarantine. Quarantine the file. (More on quarantines.)

• Disinfect. Clean the file of viruses.

• Delete. Delete the file.

 

The first action on the list is the primary action and it represents how you want infected files to be handled. Any other remaining actions will act as backup.

• To remove an action from the list, select it and click Remove. (There must be at least one action.)

• To add an action back onto the list, click Add and then select it from the drop-down list.

• To change the order of an action, select it and click Up or Down.

 

When you are finished with your changes, click Done.

As a default, the check box is selected and a Virus Intercepted or Infection Blocked message will display when real-time protection has intercepted or blocked a virus.

Select the check box to include hard drives in real-time scanning; clear it to ignore hard drives.

Select the check box to include floppy drives in real-time scanning; clear it to ignore floppy drives.

Select the check box to include CD/DVD drives in real-time scanning; clear it to ignore CD/DVD drives.

Select the check box to include networked drives in real-time scanning; clear it to ignore networked drives.

Select the check box to scan files that are stored in archives. Common archive types include ZIP, CAB, ARJ, TAR, and others.

 

With the check box selected, the Archive recursion levels field displays (see below).

With the "Scan archives (e.g., .zip, .cab, .arj)" check box selected, nested archives are also unpacked and scanned. You can designate the number of nested levels to scan in the Archive recursion levels field.

 

The default number of levels that are scanned is 5. You can enter from 1 to 99. Keeping the limit in the lower range (less than 10) can optimize processing speed.

You may wish to exclude certain folders from scanning.

 

Click Change to make changes or view existing exclusions.

• To add a folder to the exclusion list, click Add. A standard browse window opens. Navigate to the desired folder and then click OK.

• To remove a folder from the list, click Remove.

When you are finished with your changes, click Done.

You may wish to exclude specific file masks.

Click Change to make changes or view existing exclusions.

• To add a file mask to the exclusion list, click Add. Type in the letters of the mask (for example *.TXT for all text documents) and then click OK.

• To remove a file mask from the list, click Remove.

When you are finished with your changes, click Done.

You may wish to include specific file masks in the scanning for added protection.

As a default, the check box is cleared and the artificial intelligence feature is not enabled.

 

Select the check box to turn on the feature. Clear the check box to turn it back off.

As a default, the check box is selected. For detected macro variants, iolo AntiVirus will follow the same actions set in the "When an infected file is found" field (described above).

 

Clear the check box if you do not want the antivirus to perform any actions with detected macro variants.
